Nothing motivates people like being involved with an organisation where things happen. Action feeds motivation and vice versa.
The same is true of your web design and the functions of your site – users of your website want to know that you are active and engaging with them. The best way to do this is to publish regular, relevant news stories; a bit like this series actually!
Platforms like our Big Red Platform have highly integrated news/blog functions that also push stories out to Social Media platforms thereby extending your reach dramatically. If you have such an amazing platform, why not use it to shout as loud as you possibly can?
If your last published news feature was more than a month old then you simply are not working the medium hard enough!
A program of features and a delivery plan should be built into the fabric of your web site’s marketing plan. For those that are time poor or not confident in writing copy, full content management packages can be sourced with professional writers doing all the heavy lifting.
The critical thing is to generate original content. Why? Google will penalise you (possibly heavily) if you simply cut and paste other people’s work.
Matt Cutts, who was Google’s Head of Search Quality, is on record as saying that they work extremely hard to discover who is the original author of all content (using various algorithms and timestamps) and then they boost that content/website ahead of all others and mark down those that simply copy it.
Everyone has something to say about their business, everyone has original thought. All it takes a bit of motivation to sit down and write about it…but isn’t that what this series has been all about?
Speak for your industry. Say it your way.
What will you do this Monday morning to tell the world about your business through your website? Why not call me to talk through your ideas – advice is free!
